Better Shot Project
Giving shelter dogs a “better shot” at being adopted.

About You

You talk to your dog like they understand every word (they do), you've cancelled plans for them and you have 4,000 photos on your phone. You've traded the city — or you're plotting your escape — for somewhere the sky is big, the pace is slower, and your animals finally have room to run. You value real over perfect, you buy local when you can and you stop for ducklings to cross the road.

Hi, I’m Shelly, your photographer

I grew up on a farm in South Africa and did everything from working with sheepdogs and helping deliver puppies, to dosing sheep and riding our naughty Welsh Pony, Melody. I developed a deep, instinctive understanding of animals - how they behave, how they communicate, and how to earn their trust.

I’ve been a photographer for over 15 years and have fallen in love with pet portraiture and photography

HOW IT WORKS

How it works

Book Your Slot

01

Pet Portraits are run on Friday afternoons and select Saturdays. If you can’t make any of these times, please contact me.

The Session Experience

02

Yippee! It’s time to play! The session is a strictly stress-free time. We will let your furry family lead the way and will take plenty of breaks as we explore the area. Don't be concerned if your dog doesn’t want to sit or if he is more interested in all of the exciting sights around us. I promise that even if it feels like they aren’t listening or we have to set up the shot numerous times, it’s fine. It’s expected and I promise that we are creating incredible images!

THE STUDIO

The studio is at 12-14 Bundaroo St, Bowral. Drive in (shut the gate please) and park around the back. There is a big open space to let your pet stretch their legs and get some energy out if they need to.

We’ll then go into the studio and create images like the ones you see on this guide.

Outdoor sessions can be arranged.

WHAT THIS IS NOT

So that we can set your pet’s photo session up for success, this is not a family shoot, headshot shoot or any other type of shoot. So while we love having humans in the images too, I don’t recommend any more than 1 or 2 humans or pets, max.

Viewing and ordering appointment

03

We will meet again either via Zoom or in person about a week after our session at the studio where we will go over all of the images and choose your images.

If you wish to do so, you can purchase additional digital files and/or order beautiful archival quality art canvas prints. Your files then move into production where they are magically transformed into gorgeous custom artwork that you will love for a lifetime.

Once that magical artwork arrives, I will let you know and you can pick it up at the studio or we will deliver it to you in person. Most items take up to 6 weeks to arrive, but a few of the very special items may take up to 8 weeks. I promise that the wait will be worth it!

If you have any questions during the process, please don’t hesitate to contact me at hello@headshotco.com.au or 0499627659
